Being critical is one of the most important topics but also the most difficult skill to develop. ‘Being Critical’ is a term you may come across but need to look at other related terms like critique, criticize, criticism, and critic. The Oxford English dictionary defines ‘critique’ as “the critical art”. Also, when you’re asked to “critically analyse”, “critically examine”, “critically describe”, or “critically evaluate...”; the word ‘critically’ matters.
Analyse and use the terms mentioned above to explain “What is Critical thinking and why do think it is useful in studying Dynamics of Strategy? If you can develop your abilities to think critically, you’ll increase your chances of success in your education at the university and will progress towards the goal of being a reflective practitioner. In his book Contemporary Strategy Analysis, Robert Grant provides us with a figure that illustrates the links between an organisation’s resources and capabilities on the one hand, and its potential to achieve competitive advantage on the other. Grant also argues that organizational resources and capabilities are durable, difficult to identify, imperfectly transferable, and not easily replicated. Therefore, it should be regarded as the organisation’s most important assets because they play a significant role in the firm’s competitive strategy.
Undertake a resource-based analysis of your own organization, or an organization with which you are familiar explaining the different types of resources assessed. Then, based on this assessment, what steps should be taken by your selected organization to exploit its strengths and to correct its weaknesses in relation to its current and future strategy? Use examples to suppoty your analysis.
